Solar Energy Systems - a man working

Solar Energy Systems

In order for any renewable energy installation to qualify for the financial incentives available, i.e. the Feed In Tariff or the Renewable Heat Incentive, the installer must be MCS qualified with an accredited body, such as the NICEIC. This is a separate and additional qualification to existing memberships with the NICEIC, as a registered electrician for example.

Installations that are undertaken by non-accredited installers who are waiting for formal assessment can retrospectively qualify once the installer has received their accreditation.

For Solar Thermal where the RHI is not available until 2012, using a non-accredited installer going through the assessment process now will not delay payments available to the homeowner.

For Solar PV however the Feed in Tariff is available as soon as the installation has been submitted. If the installation is going to form part of the assessment process for a non-accredited installer then there will be a delay in submitting the installation and therefore a delay receiving payments. On a 2kW system, where the annual return is estimated to be around £850, a delay of up to two months would result in a loss to the home owner of around £150.

Heat & Home

Heat & Home are already registered electricians with the NICEIC and heating engineers with Gas Safe and vastly experienced in all heating and electrical systems.

We are currently going through our MCS assessment process for Solar Thermal and Solar PV and looking for a sample installation for each to submit for our MCS accreditation with the NICEIC.

In return for using an experienced heating and electrical company, who are in the process of adding these specialist services to their business, we are offering a reduced labour charge, well in excess any loss of income, on our first installation for each.

While this work is new to us, as with all our installations it will be well researched, well advised and well executed. Please give us a call if you are interested in taking us up on this very limited offer.
